The Smithsonian Museum of American History reopened this weekend, and in the Entertainment Section, alongside Dorothy’s red slippers and Seinfeld's Puffy Shirt, is Carol Channing's red dress from Hello Dolly and her Tony Award.

Posted: 11/23/08 at 11:13amIt was on display at the Smithsonian some time ago. Maybe ten years. However, this is worth a trip down to DC for me! After all, one day I WILL walk doen the stairs of the Harmonia Gardens wearing it!!!!!!!!!!!

I have lost an enormous amount of weight (and look absolutely stunning, I might add!). I should be able to fit in that dress in no time!

Posted: 11/23/08 at 6:54pmI remember seeing Chita's SPIDERWOMAN dress in a display much like this years ago. Don't know if it's still there. And don't remember which building it was in but I do recall it being displayed in a rather random space. It would be great if that had an area dedicated to theatre.

Posted: 11/23/08 at 7:00pmThe last time it was displayed, the headdress was also part of the exhibit--the original headdress--not the huge one that became part of the show when it played in vast theaters and stadiums.
