Help - Your London Buddy!

Hi

I am coming over to Chicago mid November, before I go onto New York, I have not been to Chicago before, not only coming to see shows, but would like to see your wonderful theatres too, but I need your help?

I know Billy Elliot, Million Dollar Quartet, Lion King and Blue Man Group is on, is there anything else coming?

Does Chicago do any shows on a Monday?

Does Chicago have a TKTS or any other way of getting good discounts?

I maybe staying at The Comfort Inn, which is quite central, the rate is about $190 a night, does anyone know similar hotels that might be cheaper.

Any help I would be very grateful

Cheers (as they say in London)

The best musical-related event in Chicago on Mondays doesn't happen in a theater. You should check out Musical Mondays at Sidetrack in Boystown. SO much fun!

I don't know much about Chicago hotel prices, but have you looked online through hotels.com, Orbitz, and the like? I'd hope they could be able to do better than almost $200 a night.

Mauriposa is right, as usual! Late night on Mondays, Sidetrack is the place to be. It's the inspiration for my weekly BWW column, "The Showtune Mosh Pit!"

But you are right, POL. Those are the main musical shows that will be up when you are in town. There are a number of websites that do a good job at listing upcoming performances, but the League of Chicago Theatres has just revamped their website, http://www.chicagoplays.com , and it is a great place to start looking for things. The League also runs Hot Tix, which is the half-price service we have ( http://www.hottix.org/index.aspx ). Check it out!

And I hope you have a great trip stateside, and to here in the Windy City!

Thanks I am looking forward to coming over in two weeks time and grace your famous city!

I had a dry run on 'Hot Tix' and tried for the Saturday night to see how much I was going to be charged, the advertised price on this website is $51:25, when I clicked on it, I was redirected to ticketmaster, I put in one full price ticket, when I got to checkout the price went to $112, was I doing something wrong?

I have decided on what I am going to see now, next week for my first visit to Chicago.

I am going to see,

Billy Elliot
Story of my Life
The two shows above are available through 'hottix', which will give me a good discount.

I hope to catch The Lion King, not really to see the show, but obviously I will enjoy it, but to see the 'Cadillac Palace Theatre' as well. Does anyone know if there are any discounts available please?

The Lion King may or may not be sold out. I was trying to find cheap tickets recently, and none came up at all through the ticketmaster search. Help - Your London Buddy!

Yeah, I doubt you will be able to find much for The Lion King... it's been five years since the show last stopped here, so tickets went FAST
Rant, Wickud, Rant, Wickud, Rant! We're not gonna pay Rant! 'Cause everythink is Wickud!

"Leave Walt Disney Theatricals new sparkling production of The Little Mermaid on Broadway alone!!!"

lakezurich will be played by Paul Groves in the BWW musical
