Hi- I am running two bus trips to NY in the spring. One in late April and one in late May. The April one is a high school trip and the May one is for adults.
I really want to take both groups to see Spelling Bee, but I am afraid that the original cast might not still be in it, or the show may close by then. My adult group would be interested in Piazza, but I heard it is closing in Jan.
I am not all that familiar with the shows that are or will be new this season and I have no interest in the following shows because we've already seen them (or my people don't want to see them): Wicked, Producers, Mama Mia, Movin' Out, Beauty & Beast, Lion King, Rent, Sweety Charity, and Chitty. Also, I was handed the cd for In My life and didn't like it.
I have to stay away from "racy" shows too. Any suggestions?
Maybe Sweeney todd or Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
DRS may be too racy, but I second Sweeney. Also, when does The Pajama Game open?
if these are people that have never seen a show, avoid Sweeney. try Spelling Bee, DRS, Hairspray, Spamalot, Lion King something that anyone can enjoy regardless
For upcoming Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, I go to playbill.com and it gives a list on the bottom right hand side of the page. Some of interest for your May trip could be Tarzan, Lestat, or even The Wedding Singer. Most of the shows do not have release dates, but it could help you get an idea. Hope this helps.
If the Light In The Piazza is still open then definitely take the adults to that! If not, Sweeney Todd looks like it is amazing and I'm really excited about The Color Purple. (Yay I'm seeing Sweeney Halloween weekend!)
