Planning a trip to NYC in a week and was hoping for feedback/advice on what to see, when, and without breaking the bank. I'm staying in NJ about an hour away but do plan 3 seperate trips into the city, most likely on Sat/Wed/Sat. The last Sat I arrive day before and stay in the city.
The plan is to see 3 plays and I have Pippin, Lady Day and You can't take it With You on the top of the agenda.
Being that Andrea Martin is closing out her run in Pippin, that makes it first line on the Sat and I plan to Rush that show. She might be a Tony award winning actress to you, but she will always be Edith Prickley to me and seeing her will be a definite thrill. Do I expect a larger rush crowd than normal given that it is her last weekend? Would like to see evening show but flexible enough to see afternoon one. If I do see the afternoon one I may try my luck with a couple of lotteries for that night. Maybe Hedwig and/or Kinky Boots...the 1st because I think it earlier starting time and 2nd because I believe chances are good of winning.
On the Wednesday it will have to be an afternoon show and I figured since there is no rush that buying advance tickets on Today Tix with discount (feel free to post one) might be best bet. Will also free up a lot of time not standing in any lines.
Lastly will be Lady Day, I had planned to rush it on the Sat. but recent reports make it seem this is hit and miss at best. I posted somewhere else whether TKTS makes sense and whether I could nab matinee tickets the day before in Brooklyn.
Anyway, that's the plan that is ever changing...feel free t weigh in with opinions advice always keeping in mind that I'd like to keep this as cheap as possible. Other productions on my radar that I can't quite squeeze in are Gent;eman's Guide and Only a Play.
Thanks for any advice received.

My advice: As long as you're at Pippin by 8 you should be just fine.
Lady Day seems to be more of a crapshoot (also check to be sure you're not coming when it's going to be on its hiatus).
Kinky Boots for the matinee on Sat. is pretty easy from what a friend of mine has said.
Hedwig on Wednesday is easier.
This is just my two cents.
