Let's hear it for ON A CLEAR DAY and the 3 Barbara's....whether it's the marvelous Barbara Harris who originated the role of Daisy Gamble, or La Streisand who created her "Daisy" on film, or the wonderful version of the song that Barbara Cook has her recent recording.

"Hey, buds below
Up is where to grow..."

The first time I put the original cast recording in my CD player and heard that song, I fell madly and deeply in love with Barbara Harris. Wonderful, charming and quirky; a real delight. Streisand and the film soundtrack pale greatly in comparison.

For me, it was the reverse. The first time I heard that song was the soundtrack. I thought the song, and the score, was terrific. Years later I bought the OBCR. Barabra Harris won me over almost instantly. I also have had the pleasure to hear an audio track of a live Broadway performance of ON A CLEAR DAY. Sheer brilliance.

I was SO happy when I read that Barbara Cook was recording HURRY, ITS LOVELY UP HERE.

See does a beautiful job.

For me the Striesand soundtrack is lovely to listen to, and much more enjoyable than watching the movie.

Hands down, However, Barbara Harris will always be my Daisy Gamble.

I think that "Hurry It's Lovely Up Here" is a wonderful song. Most of the present day "Clear Day" songs are much better than the dream (I think) songs. It shows Lerner's range as a writer.

This is one show that should be revived (for the score), however I understand the book may need some work.

I am a proud owner of the DVD/film version of On A Clear Day, and I love it.
After seeing Barbara Harris in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (the film) recently, I'd love to investigate her performance as the original Daisy Gamble.

I never had the honour of seeing it onstage, let alone with Miss Harris, Whom I adore. Streisand (Mrs. Brolin) did a grand job in making me all verklempt in the film and it was lovely to look at as well. Miss Cook singing anything from this score would be a triumph! Bravo to all Three - oh yes, P.S. I was so sorry I did not get to see Miss Karen Black in the National Tour as well. I love Miss Karen Black and do wonder what she is up to these days?
I'd love to see this onstage at any time, How did they stage it?? I only have the film to go on and cannot imagine it! LOVE IT!!!
Oh yes, As it was just before Christmas, Target still has the DVD on sale for $5.50 - You cannot beat that - as well as "The Rose" and "The Wiz" among others!

Loved Barbara Harris in "Nashville," "Peggy Sue Got Married,' and especially "The Seduction of Joe Tynan" (with Alan Alda and Meryl Streep). Shoulda got an Oscar nom for the latter.

Love the OACDYCSF score. For a killer version of "What Did I Have That I Don't Have", check out Eydie Gorme's "Don't Go to Strangers" album. She really sells it as one of the great torch songs of all time, IMO.

It's too early for noches.
