So, 13 has been getting a good bashing around here for a good while (from myself as well) but I just wanted to set the record straight. I saw it today, and while it wasn't a masterpiece, and it had many flaws, it's not the colossal disaster that some have made it out to be. It's a fun, infectious, cute show with a talented cast and some funny one-liners. Sure, you're not really getting your money's worth ($125 --> Green cast, simple sets, small band), but that's what TDF and student rush are for. It's a sweet little show, and it'll have a great future as I'm sure every middle school in the US will put it on as soon as MTI releases the rights.
That is all. Make of it what you will.

While I completely agree, I can't help but feel as if Peter Griffin just wrote that review. Not offense, I'm in awe of how you can just shape your even kind words into bittingly ironic. Kudos to you, and sad to see this show next in line at the guioutillnie.
yeah! i agree!!
it was very cute and worth the 25 dollars I paid for my student ticket :)
and honestly, the singer was MUCH better than I expected
I LOVED the movie scene, that was funny
Also, I loved Allie Trimm :) I hope she has a future in store for her!
All of my friends have made fun of me for wanting to see it so I went alone and it was a fun show. The kids are so into it and it just makes you feel like any dream can come true. It was a great show and I am going to see it one more time before it ends.

So Piragua Guy, you were bashing a show that you had never seen?

I had given the CR a good listen and heard reports from friends and posters.
and, in my opinion, the cast recording for 13 lacks... and is MUCH better live than on the recording

I liked 13 very much. If there is no room on Bdwy for the occasional show with this target audience in mind, then I think that is a sad thing. I look forward to seeing many of these kids in the future. If the Bdwy revival of Brighton Beach Memoirs happens, I gotta believe that any of Graham Phillips/ Aaron Simon Gross/Corey Snide would be fantastic in the Matthew Broderick role.
you're right. it's not SO bad, it's so TERRIBLE!!!

I too love it, which everyone knows. I saw it for my fourth time yesterday, at the matinee to see Corey one last time and I'll be there tomorrow.

Whoa, Charleston, nice zinger!
I know SNA. I try so hard.
Does it remind you of something your favorite person, Stew, would say???

Please! 13 was dreadful. It's only purpose for existence is to play the high school circuit. It had no right to be produced on Broadway.
And, I'm being kind.

i love 13.
i mean, of course its not the best - but it was something for younger kids. A lot of the songs were really good tooo.
And the cast is fantastic.

The cast was dreadful. The performance I saw they barely hit their notes. I have rarely been so embarrassed and insulted. I'm sorry, but 13 is / was simply awful.

scotty here you go again. still can't take your own advise to not randomly bash a show just because it popular to do so. it seems thats all you can do, along with your altar ego charleston, you two(actually i think your one in the same) seem to have this rabbit resentment toward this show. when you say they barly hit their notes your inferring that they did. did you mean every song and every cast member or was this your boring attempt to be a critic."rarely been so embarrassed" happen before.. huh...what show was that, or were you just trying to find word with more than four(4)letter to decribed this show. in what way were you in distress over this show. insulted? how and why be specific. your precedent assaults with these vage and unsupported comments make them and you irrelevant. i have to hand it to piraguaGuy2. while i don't think one should pass judgement on a show before seeing it that once you did your appraisal was fair and articulate
