I didn't see this posted and I really just had to say how sick that news made me... good for them... but that's crazy

At least they have the REAL talent behind Zac Efron's voice singing and speaking as Troy.

Its not that bad.
I found it cheesy and fun.
I'll probably take my sister when it hits Philly.
Wait, wait, wait...NONE of them can SING!

Who is producing this thing? Disney or an outside party?
Ehh, it will be good for what it is, for the Pre Teen to Teen population. I would rather them go see this then half the actual music concerts out there today.
i actually think its is pretty cool that most of the real stars will be in it...i just wish ms. darbus was included in it...haha
watch this will become the fastest selling concert in history.
Ha, I agree. Like the Cheetah Girls, lmao

Crap, it's coming to Massachusetts. And once again my entire school will be off to see what they think is real musical theatre.
haha. "we saw the best broadway show the other day"
Laugh all you want. High School Musical is the strongest score Disney has come up with this year. (Okay, so that's not saying all that much...) I'm surprised they haven't already cleared out Tarzan and put a full scale production of HSM in its place. There is a full fledged legit HSM production being mounted in Atlanta soon.
who said i was laughing. i actually love most of the music. i think the "book" of it is a little silly...but i am actually a huge fan. as for the concert its a great idea using the real people...i am just not sure how the actual thing will be. it will make $$$.
"who said i was laughing. i actually love most of the music"
There were several posts that included "ha" or "haha", so that's where that was directed.
It's not that I think High School Musical is a work of genius, but it does have a score with some strong songs and a story that the songs help to tell. That's a lot more than I can say for "The Good Ship Lollyflop" now previewing in Chicago.
It's very frustrating to see $15 million dollars wasted on ship sets, rigging, projection equipment and so much else without there being one single song up there that's as memorable as "Stick With What You Know" or "Keep Your Head in the Game".

Get'cha Head In The Game
Hehe.
Anyway, I might take my HSM-loving friends to see this when it comes around, just for the hell of it.
Oh. Christ.
I'm a teenager and I got to deal with all my "theatre-loving" friends at school, one of which literally attacked me because I told her I didn't consider it a real musical.
It's not as much that I hate the "musical" itself, it's that I hate how people seem to think after seeing it they're some kind of Broadway genius. I just don't want even more people getting into the craze. There are enough fans already.

theatredude, where did you get those dates from?
it's coming here (raleigh NC) in April 07.
I don't think that Disney had any idea it would take off the way that it did. It's a huge sensation! I teach children ages 10-11 right now, and they talk about it a LOT. . .as well as my 15 year-old teaching assistant. it's crazy.
i dunno, i think that kind of "campy" musical theatre stuff is kind of cute, soemtimes.
tickets aren't that expensive, maybe i'll go. . .
they were on either bwayworld or theatermania
Look, I gotta say I was kind of excited to see this concert but then I read that it was the "stage version" of the show and I've seen the stage version and what they changed from the movie and it is NOT good.
I'm having second thoughs on seeing it now.
