For me, it sounds like the must-see show of this year's Fringe Festival will easily be Harvey Finkelstein's Sock Puppet Showgirls, a faithful version of Paul Verhoeven's cinematic masterpiece, performed by sock puppets. That sounds too good to pass up.
Any other shows that look like a breakout hit, a la Matt & Ben or Urinetown?

There is a good roundup about some of the musicals in the Fringe right here!

I enjoy that the "familiar face" is there. Kinda helpful.

I don't know if anyone has seen Spare Change yet with the Fringe, but I caught the show on Saturday and it was awesome. A really tight, devilishly funny piece, about the ad. industry.
My next stop might be Granola the musical, but I'd love to catch some more plays.
Can anyone help me sort through the other non-musicals out there? Recommendations?

I'm trying to get to Spare Change, especially since two actors from Sarah Plain and Tall are a part of it, and I really enjoyed that show and their performances.
I just saw the Spickner Spin last night, and that was a good time. Songs are still stuck in my head, which I would think is a good sign, right? It was interesting and fun and catchy and the performaces were good, so yay for that!
I also saw All Good Things on Friday, which was fun. I think that one closes soon though, and since the original members of the band that it is about are being there, is also sold out. But it was worth checking out!
Have tickets for Subway Train, Andru's Head and that one about Daddy being a Stage Mom in my pocket for this week. Fringe is fun!

"Jonestown -- The Musical" features Matt Cavenaugh (Urban Cowboy), Marla Schaffel (Jane Eyre) and J Mark McVey (Les Miserables) and sounds like it could potentially be another "Urinetown."
I just got an email from Jackie Hoffman encouraging people to see "The Bicycle Men," which she says is made up of some of the funniest guys who ever came out of Second City (where she started).
I've also heard good things about "5000 Nights," "Andru's Head" and "Decoding The Tablecloth."
