Maybe...ok most likely it's true. But she could be decent. I actually contemplated Amtrak-in it up to the city to see her. But eh, nevermind. Also, I doubt she'll sing.

Amtrak. LOL. Taking a train line that has a reputaion for crashes up to NYC to see Mels in Chicago. How appropriate. :)

Yeah tell me about it. Especially when all they do is b!tch about how much the ticket for "Phantom" was and how great it had better be or else..
I say this very gingerly but... there is buzz that Melanie is actually very good in the role. And considering that Roxie is a bit of a trashy girl who will do anything for publicity...is it really such a stretch?
I must agree that she may not be as bad as some people predict.
I'm not a huge fan of her film work, but she's got that dim, pretty thing going on -- and with a squeaky voice to boot. I think that if they needed to go "Hollywood," she was a reasonable choice.
She's got to be better than Karen Ziemba in the role. I usually really like Karen, but her Roxie was not good.
Of course, the jury is still out on Melanie. I just don't think that she was a bad choice, initially.

I almost wish I wasn't working Friday night, or else I'd go.... *damn* I allllmost wanna be there to see this! lol
If in Heaven you don't excel, you can always party down in hell...
What time does this kind of segment usually hit the Today show? I don't want to tape the whole program, but I'd love to tape this one.

Usually, performers are in the second half.

First hour of "Today" is usually "hard news". Then feature stuff.

I have this really bad urge to actually see this...Kind of like that morbid urge you get to gawk at a car wreck.
It's not at all difficult to imagine Melanie being good in "Chicago." Before her not-so-hot films, there was a lot of really good work. Anybody old enough to recall "Night Games" and "Working Girl" and "Body Double" knows that the lady has talent. More recently there was "Another Day in Paradise" and the television version of "Lolita." She's got a lot of stuff going on, which I expect her to bring to bear on Roxie.
I'll have to watch tomorrow.

As far as "buzz that Melanie's good" goes ... there was buzz that Susan Lucci was good in AGYG, too. And we know how true that was! (not true at all, IMO)
Just remember: Melanie auditioned BEFORE for the role and got turned down. Now with Antonio on Bdwy in a hit, one has to wonder how much power he parlayed to help Mel. get a gig, too.
