I may have the opportunity to see a show on December 29, at night. It's a Friday, and I have tickets to see Les Miserables during the day. I'm just wondering how many shows usually sell out the week of Christmas and New Years, and how many people usually try the lotteries? Odds are I won't buy tickets in advanced, I'll probably do the lottery or TKTS or something. Maybe even student rush if shows aren't that badly sold out.
I figure it's the best time that week to go, the Christmas tourists will have been gone and the New Year's folks may not have entered yet.

I am actually going to New York that same day and I bought tickets for Avenue Q in the afternoon and those were already fairly sold on. I'm near the back of the mezanine (spelling?) for the matinee. So the stakes for the lotto and rush are gonna be pretty high, my guess at least.
Yeah, I didn't bother with rull price tickets to Les Miz. I bought the 36 buck last row of the mezzanine ones. I'm a student and need to save up for college in the city next year. I figure I can spend at the most 50 bucks on another show that day. I have a great list of shows to try, but I'm clueless on chances of winning.
Most shows are sold out and visiting students dominate the rushes. I warn you now.

I'm hoping to repeat what I did last year for my birthday and rush Jersey Boys. I rushed it last year for my birthday, and there wasn't that many people there when I got there and that was when they had the rush seats in row W.
if i were you, i'd buy tickets in advance, just so you at least have something to see. i wouldn't rely on rush of lotto tickets being available to a show you really wanna see, especially since that's PRIME tourist season.
good luck though, you'll need it...
Keep in mind that it IS Christmas Break, so you will be competing with everyone out of school, not to mention, those who take a vacation that week from their job...
