Hotels

Which hotels are the best in the Time Square/Broadway area? I've stayed at the Edison, the Mayfair, and Hotel 41 At Times Square. I usually stay at the Edison because it's centrally located, but I'd like a little variety on my next two outings. Is there another hotel in that area that I could try?

The Time Hotel is nice. Very contemporary. Steps from Times Square. The Skyline is a few blocks away, inexpensive and very nice.

You might want to try Priceline. All the big midtown hotels use them and some real good bargains can be found. Usually you can get 4* hotel for around $100 an ight.

omg i dunno how any one can like the New Yorker. i stayed there once and i didnt like it one bit. The rooms actually remind me of a bad horror movie. and the accomidations are horrible. Now the New York Marriott Marquis is the best hotel! the accomidations are awesome and if you are lucky enough to get a room with a time square view it is the best! i must admitt that the elevators suck there but they are working on it!!! aiite ~pc~

Speaking of hotels, I was dragged to a wedding in Carmel, Indiana (5-6 hours away) and I am sitting in the "Business Room" on the high-speed internet. It is a suite, so they ususally have a lot of business stuff. I will be home Sunday.

i stayed at the Marriott Marquis in feb. and loooved it! I had a view of times square that was just amazing. I just stayed at the Westin and it good too. Both are great hotels and I'd certainly suggest them but definitely go on priceline or hotels.com

Stayed @ the Time in May & I was ok cos I got it @ a GREAT price but the usual rates are a bit pricey restaurant & bar also. Great if u are seeing NINE , it's right next door. I've said this before but the NYC & CO (NY Tourist board) organizes special rates for winter & summer specials. The next list will be up in Nov that may be too late for U.

i stayed at the WASHINGTON JEFERSON in July and must say it was Very nice... clean, small and simple would best describe it and its like 2 blocks from the wintergarden theatre.

Is the Westin actually IN Times Square? If not, how far is it?

But I must say that for something outside the district... Chealea Savoy is fun for those of us who like to theater and party. Very well located.

I liked the Doubletree Guest Suites. Great location too!

NYC tourism must be way up, because the prices for hotel rooms sure are. I'll be staying at The Edison next month, I booked it months ago at $159 a night, and just last March and April I paid $99 and $119 respectively. The Ed is now booked for my nights so I think I got a good deal. These days it's hard to find anything around Times Square for under $200. A couple of years ago (soon after 9/11) I got The Millenium for $149, and now it's almost $300. I usually use hotels.com and sometimes expedia.com, and I shop around. Maybe next time I'll take my chances with Priceline.com.

Last April I stayed at the Sheraton New Yorker...which was great. A few blocks up from Times Square...it was nice to get out of that craziness. Only a short walk to Rock Center, 5th, and the Park. Really nice, big room too. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.
