Hahah well London had the largest black community of any fo the 6 cities I've lived in-- 
but ultimately it doesn't really matter what colour you picture them it works--but I get why he didn't wanna whitewash it for a movie (I didn't realize however that it, American Gods and Starstruck are meant ot be all in the same loose "universe"_-Stardust years in the past though.
