The fantastic actors and dancers in 42nd Street gave the audience everything they had and I still did not enjoy it as much as I thought I would. I felt so far away from the stage that I couldn't bond with the cast and feel their high energy. Even with grandiose sets and sparling costumes, it was like watching a movie.
I realize it was an op-ed piece (and I stated that), but I was responding to SeanMartin's statement that "Isherwood isn't a reviewer" - not whether the op-ed piece was fair or not.
