I saw the Spamalot matinee yesterday. I never saw the show before, but I enjoy Monty Python and figured I would give it a try. The show was great! Very very funny. Drew Lachey and Stephen Collins were very entertaining. Since this was my first time seeing the show, I don't have anyone to compare them to. However, they both hit all their jokes and really gave their characters the quirkiness that was needed without being too over the top. They exceeded all of my expectations. Stephen has a soft voice but manages the role rather well. Drew has a very nice voice and was pretty endearing as Patsy. Marin Mazzie and Tom Deckman were out. Jenny Hill played the Lady of the Lake. She did a wonderful job, especially during "Find Your Grail" and "The Diva's Lament." The real highlight of the show was Rick Holmes as Lancelot/French Taunter/Knight of Ni/Tim the Enchanter. He was absolutely hilarious. I believe he has the best roles in the show and he completely did them justice. There is nothing subtle about those characters and he really gave it his all in every scene. Rick, Drew, and Stephen all signed at the stagedoor. They were very nice and they took pictures with everyone. Honestly, I was surprised by the lack of people at the stagedoor. I think there were only about 10 people there. Sinbad (actor/comedian) was at the show. He came out of the stagedoor and signed a few autographs before leaving. It was pretty random. Overall, I really enjoyed Spamalot. Anyone who wants to see it should definitely go. This cast will not waste your time. It was money well spent and I loved every second of it.
