ppl on here are wrong about the tonys in two different ways

1. the tonys are not designed to help the shows that most need them in order to run longer

so the voters arent calculating which show facing closing should therefore get the best musical award

2. the awards are not to make broadway more fair or competitive like the nfl draft

the truth is

the tonys

like other invented awards such as the oscars or the emmys

were created so there could be a giant circle jerk amongst the ppl working in those industries

patting themselves on the back

and taking home a piece of false idol hardware

in an attempt to fill their empty souls

the fact that some of u actually believe the various award categories go to the 'best' each season is laughable

one need only point to this seasons best musical winner to prove my case

if u believe schmigadoon ranks up there with previous winners

written and directed by the historical greats

u are as clueless as the current tony voters
