How is Sutton Foster's understudy?
#0How is Sutton Foster's understudy?
Posted: 10/30/06 at 12:10amBoth times I've gone to see a Sutton Foster show (TMM, LW) I've seen her understudy instead (both were Wednesday matinees). I'm seeing a Wednesday matinee of TDC next week, so I don't have high hopes of seeing Sutton this time either. Has anybody seen her understudy? Should I be concerned?

Posted: 10/30/06 at 12:18amI don't know about Saturday night? I haven't heard that she's out or anything, I'm just concerned because my past experiences have been that she is out for Wednesday matinees.

maybe she takes those afternoons to work on her offstage wedding arrangements.

Posted: 10/30/06 at 12:46amConsidering she got married in September, that excuse won't fly!

Posted: 10/30/06 at 2:26amSutton is a very committed performer and doesn't usually miss performances. She should do all 8 shows a week unless there is a scheduled vacation, emergency, sickness, etc. So unless it's one of those things (and she just took a 2 week vacation for her wedding so she probably won't take another one for a while), she will most likely be in.

Posted: 10/30/06 at 5:44amI saw a Wednesday matinee in July and Sutton was in it. Also, I saw a Wednesday matinee of both Millie and Little Women, and Sutton was there every time. Chances are she will be there- especially after recently taking time off for her honeymoon.

Thanks guys. Maybe third time will be the charm and I'll actually get to see Ms. Sutton in person.
Actually, my biggest understudy fear this trip is Christine Ebersole in Grey Gardens (the Saturday matinee the weekend after opening). I have no reason to believe she won't be there, but I really have no desire to see the show without her. She's the whole reason I'm going.

I saw Andrea Chamberlin back in September (along with Bob Martin's understudy...blanking on his name now). Overall she was great, although a little stiff during "Show Off." I'm sure you'll have a great time, with or without Sutton.

I saw Angela Pupelo in Bat Boy - she was great! Much better than Kerry Butler.
Haven't seen Drowsy, but I'd imagine she won't dissapoint.
