The LESTAT TV commercial has been running. I have seen it a few times. That usually isnt enough to cover the bad word of mouth and poor grosses. The Tony Awards are not watched by many as ratings show. Elton's name might give it a slight bounce if he wishes to push it some more.

In regards to Warner Bros.: no matter how much money they're willing to put into the show and how committed they are, they don't have the only say in the matter. The theatre owner can still close the show by evicting it if the gross falls under a certain number for two consecutive weeks.

I can see the Nederlanders supporting it for the time being, because it's too late to get another show in before Tonys, but come the summer if it's not doing well and there's something else that looks more promising that wants the Palace, I can see them pulling the plug.

I did like a lot about Lestat. I don't want it to fail. I think it's inevitable though.

I think MB is probably right. Send it to Japan. If history is any teacher, they would make it a smash hit.

My money's on a fall closing. Perhaps I'm underthinking it, but I feel like it's going to be the Nederlanders to pull the plug before Warner Brothers, and I can't imagine them wanting to let that big theater run dark all summer without any buzz of what could possibly go in there. I'd also love to see Tale of Two Cities at the Palace, and so I'm hoping the timing will work out.

Dracula the Musical ran what, five months? And with no draw other than masochistic curiosity. With Elton and Anne Rice attatched I think it will run at least that, if slightly longer.

Ah who cares whos making fun of it I'm hoping to see this show either the 1st weekend of June or somewhere like mid-june so I'm hoping it stays open til that time's passed. I like what I've seen and heard from this show so I'm practically chomping at the bit to go (heck im even trying to read the novels before then so i can better prepared for it lol).

CPD - I didn't hear that, but I did get the news that he didn't show up to help fix things in San Francisco when all hell broke loose.

He didn't see the show in SF until the final weekend. I think he was on his honeymoon at the time the show was having it's tryout. He did say it's the best work he has ever done.

How long would it have to run to secure international rights? (If there is a minimum.)

Lestat could do so well in Germany or Austria. And Drew could go back if he wanted.

I think it may hang on through the summer, when all the out of town folks leave sadly I think it will close.

"everybody's got one" (opinion)it just so happens that DG's is right! :) Let's hope the cast and crew find better work soon.
