How strong a singer is the hilarious Peter Benson?

Have people hear Peter sing before? What is his range? What type of singer is he? (legit, musical theater character etc).

I am periperhally involved in a project where I think he would be great for one of the roles. But I have never heard him sing, although I am aware he does.

He sings on the Pajama Game cast recording, in the role of Prez. He sings wonderfully, though he is best in character roles.
