I'm going to see Les Mis in St. Louis this weekend and it will be my first time waiting at the stage door. How do you ask an actor/actress for his autograph and picture? Can you ask for both or is that oppressive? Please help me out! I don't want to sound like an idiot.

Just introduce yourself, say some small talk, and then ask "Do you mind if you sign this and take a picture?" But don't just say it abruptly, because hopefully you're not speakign with them just for that. They like to be greeted, too. Usually an actor will say "I'd love to!" But sometimes they may be in a rush (which is less likely when on tour) and say they'll sign, but they really have to run.
well, I just wait by the stage door with alot of other people, and everone usually has a program and a marker out, so the actor/actress knows to sign. You probably dont have to ask for the autograph.
As they finish signing my program, i just ask "Can i please get a picture?"
I always praise them on thier performance too!
It works for me everytime!

I don't stage door very often any more, but when I do, Iusually just say, "excuse me, could you sign this?" And while they are, I say something about what I liked about the show or their performance. And I'd say if you want a photo too, after they've signed just say "if it's not too much trouble, would you mind if I got a picture as well?" No biggie. Just be sure to say thank you!
Have fun!
Yes, you usuallly don't have to ask- as long as you have a pen and program or something out. But don't shove it in their faces. Tell them you loved the show, or Congrats on the Tony, or something else before you have them sign it. Most all actors are very approachable- so don't be afraid!

I've been alone on many an occasion because I've seen so many tours...you have to learn both approaches. :) I'ts easier on broadway since there's mulitple people.
Where is the stage door at the Fox because i'm going too but i've never stagedoored so I don't know where it is.
Just make sure to be polite. Say please and thank you, and be friendly!
You took the words out of my mouth emcee.
Relax, be friendly, be polite, enjoy it - the actors will too.
When I stagedoored the Rent tour, I was the only one that wasn't shouting or crowding around the actors, who were on their way to eat. I asked "Would you mind if I got a picture?" and "could you please sign my playbill". I found that got a better response than "sign this" and a random flash coming at them. They also seemed more eager to sign my playbill than the others because I was more polite.
Just stand outside & say Mr or Ms can I have your autograoh and/or would you mind if I took a picture ? Seems to work for me
