I missed Hugh Jackman's autograph again and was wondering how without being impolite do you get these poeple to sign your ****. I don't like to rush out if the theatre and trample people. Does it help if you have a poster so you stick out more instead of just a playbill? Updated On: 7/7/04 at 04:46 PM

thats true. but also hugh jackman only signs the people's autogrpahs that are in the front. i tried walking through the crowd with a poster and he didn't grab it!

poster's seem to work better- they extend your reach over people's heads, also eye contact helps

how do you do it if you're at that night's performance (without sprinting from the theatre)?

Find a way to get there before everyone else.

I know in Hugh Jackman's case, lots of people have tried waiting outside the stage door before he comes to the theater. He has less time then (and it seems a bit like overkill to me) but it might work.

15 minutes ain't gonna cut it for that show. I showed up about an hour before and there were still a ton of people waiting.

An hour? Wow. I saw it back during the coldest days of January, when being outside for more than 2 minutes caused actual physical pain. Needless to say, there wasn't a huge group by the stage door that day.

No, this was about 3 weeks ago when it was nice outside. That's when the freaks come out! lol

Hi, we went last Thursday.. We aren't seeing the show until August and actually attended Phantom of the Opera. I ran as soon as Phantom let out and Boy From Oz had not let out yet.. I got there in plenty of time and was in front of the line.... I guess I was just lucky.. I got a picture and an autograph of Hugh and Stephanie.

There are also those folks who camp out in front of the stage door BEFORE the show. Don't they have any idea that these people are on their way to work?

Sigh, I wish i could have took a picture with hugh, but there were too many people and it looked like he was in a rush. I at least got his autograph by reaching my arm as far as i could so he could grab it (I was 4 people deep in the mob).

Don't wait before the show. It's annoying.

To make it to the door early at Boy From Oz, just skip the last song or two. You're not missing anything too spectacular, and most of the audience doesn't move all that fast anyway.

Please tell me you were being sarcastic, Matt. The last two songs in the show are Jackman's knockout 11 o'clock number and "I Go to Rio," the only big production number. If you miss those for an autograph you might as well not pay for show tickets and just live outside the stage door instead.

I agree - you're better off with memories of Hugh singing ONCE BEFORE I GO and shaking the maracas ( and other things as well) in I GO TO RIO - than getting his autograph. But if you are sitting towards the front, on the left side ( facing the stage) that's the fastest way to get out of the theatre and a few seconds dash to the stage door re: How to succeed in autographs without really trying

GOOD LUCK!

I was being semi-sarcastic. I personally wouldn't get up and leave before bows, but that's out of courtesy to the actors and surrounding audience members. As far as those last 2 numbers, I could honestly take them or leave them. I like Hugh as much as the next guy, and he does a great job in Oz, but by halfway through the second act, I'm ready for a different show. I'm not trying to bach the show, just to explain how my last post was half-serious.

'Kay, then. To each their own. :) But the beginning and very end of the show are widely thought to be the best parts. It's the mushy middle (you know, the meat of it) that's the problem.

Well, that's why they close the show when Jackman takes a vacation.

And on a side note- holy moly has he looked thin lately. Poor guy needs to eat a sandwich or three. Hopefully he'll take a short break soon.

What about getting there before they arrive at the theater (before the show)? Anyone know how early they get there for Wicked and Ave Q?? I'd love to get autographs for both those shows when I go:)

What is your dream role?
My dream role would be to be myself. To be performing at the Hollywood Bowl and to have an audience there just to see me, as Stephanie. They are there because they like what I do as a singer, an artist and a person (the last being the most important). I enjoy escaping and portraying other characters, but to be accepted and wanted as yourself... that's amazing! --Stephanie J. Block Just one of the many reasons I admire and respect Stephanie!!
