Hugh Jackman (?????)

Posted: 6/9/03 at 1:51amAm I the only Tony watcher tonight who thought this was one of the worst hosting jobs ever? If I'm wrong, I'll willingly bend over and accept my spanking. Does anyone out there agree with me? God, where is Angela when you need her?

He was boring. He's a fine actor, not a host.
And that long hair................yikkkes.

Posted: 6/9/03 at 2:28amI haven't seen the Tonys, so I can't pass judgment on Jackman's hosting duties. But I can tell you the long hair is because of the movie he is currently filming, Van Helsing. Actually, the length is due to hair extensions.

It feels like they merely booked him for ratings--and who can blame them. Theatre needs all the help it can get. Plus, he gets to promote his new show.
My problem was the terrible camera work, the foolish choices made by CBS, and I terribly missed the behind the scenes footage for the designers. They could have at least named the other design/orchestration nominees. I'm tired of theatre's being treated like the bas**rd child of the entertainment world. CBS just had to have all 3 hours, but would be damned to do it with 100% care.

I know, I really missed the behind the scenes segments.
I did like thenew opening with the other shows and people on the street as well as the video segments with cast members setting up the numbers.
Hairspray got jipped in the camera work department. There number was not photographed well at all. The Tony Award winnning musical with the powerhouse compnay was photographed probably the worst. What was up with the final shot of the number being an extreme long shot from house right in the back??

Posted: 6/9/03 at 7:47pmI just bought tickets to The Boy From Oz yesterday afternoon. If I had seen him on the Tony's show first, I think I would have thought it over for a while. I surely hope he's a better actor than host.

Hank,
If you need to sell the tickets, I am almost positive you would have no problem doing so. Especially depending on where they are located! You can private message me if you really want to get rid of your tickets...I have several friends who will definitely be going to see the show no matter what!
