It's kind of hard to discern sarcasm on a message board. Yes, I saw that remark as possibly being sarcastic, but I also saw where, to some, it could come off as a "God you idiots I know these types of comments are coming up and I better not see them" type of attitude.
Truthfully, if those are who they would HONESTLY like to see in those roles, then I don't take issue with people listing those names. That is who they enjoy and it is fine by me. I enjoy many of those same people, though I would NEVER consider listing them for some of the roles mentioned.
I do, though, wish that in 'dream casting', some people could delve into the choruses and ensembles of today and look at the stars of tomorrow. After all... Sutton understudied most of her career, Emily Skinner was an understudy in the original cast of Jekyll and Hyde.... look to the unknows sometimes. I always enjoy the ensemble people, who, in my opinion, are often more talented than the people who do mostly principal roles. It sometimes strikes me as odd whe I list a chorus person for a 'dream role' as a principal and people have NO clue who they are. I take joy in looking in those ensembles, seeing a talent, and then seeing them star in a show several years down the road.
