I want to sing the song "By The River" from December Songs by Maury Yeston. The song is intended to be sung by a girl, but I love the song and I really want to sing it. Now, what key would I need to put the song in to be able to sing it as a male? I have a wide range, so I just need to know a key so I can transpose the song online and print it out. Thanks for your help.

Anyone have the CD of December Songs? Are all the songs performed by the female vocalist?
I have the December Songs CD - and yes, all the songs are sung by the female vocalist. BTW, anyone who does not have this CD should get it - it's fabulous!
I have to see if I can find it, but I believe on "The Maury Yeston Songbook," By The River is sung by a man.
EDIT: I'm imagining things. Sorry.

Nope - on the Maury yeston Songbook CD, "By The River" is sung by Christine Andreas. But one of the "December Songs" is sung there by Philip Chaffin.

Just play with transposing it in different intervals on the website, playing it and singing along in between every one and see which one fits your range best.
