Okay, so i'm in the market for a new Broadway musical to get into. Here's what i already have. By looking at my list you can tell what sorta musicals i like. any suggestions would be great. RENT Tick Tick Boom Urinetown Falsettos Bat Boy Phantom of the Opera Les Miserables Parade The Last 5 Years Songs for a New World Bare - Sampler Brooklyn Little Shop of Horrors Aida Wicked Mamma Mia Footloose The It Girl The Full Monty Taboo I Sing Jekyll & Hyde Godspell Avenue Q Titanic Updated On: 3/24/05 at 08:34 PM
I suggest "Thoroughly Modern Millie" or "The Secret Garden" or "Beauty and the Beast"
And you think of all of the things you've seen, and you wish that you could live in between ,and you're back again only different than before...
After the Sky.
-Into the Woods (Jack)
"All the while making faces like a baby platypus who forget to take some Beano before eating a chimichanga." FindingNamo in reference to Jessica Simpson's singing.
You can get Miss Saigon just about anywhere. B&N would have it, but I'd try Amazon.com because it'd be cheaper. Also you could try your luck on Ebay someone might have it there for really cheap.
Make sure you get the FULL OLC with Lea Salonga and Jonathan Pryce. Highlights suck because if you decide you like the CD (which you will) then you have to buy the full version anyway to hear the rest.
Anyone heard the OBC of Chess? I heard it's pretty good. I went to the local B&N, but they only had the London one, and I'd rather have the OBC. Is it good?
Martin Guerre is a must have! I would also say...Sweeny Todd, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Zanna Don't,and Witches of Eastwick. You might like The thing about men and Side Show but hey. I've been thinking about getting Debbie Does Dallas cause I loved Sherri Rene Scott in both Aida and L5Y...does anyone have and input? I mean how is it? Worth buying?
Ev'ry so often we long to steal to the land of what might have been but that dos'nt soften the ache we feel when reality sets back in.
if you don't have A New Brain I second that rec. That musical is just amazing!
And Company is amazing, you just need to give it a chance. Yes it's "older sounding" but it's still a work of genius and needs to be in ever broadway fans collection along with Into the Woods. Anything Sondheim is a must! And for me anything Jason Robert Brown and William Finn too.
You may be surprised if you give some of the "older sounding" musicals a chance. I thought the same way as you once and now Company is the one CD I can't stop listening to.
You're always sorry,
You're always grateful,
You hold her, thinking:
"I'm not alone."
You're still alone.
-"Sorry-Grateful" Company
How did I forget Sweeney? I know what you mean. I bought The Producers CD and rarely listen to it. I liked the show, but it's score is mediocre. Don't buy the CD, but do go see the show.
