This past Halloween, someone brought in the famous "Monty Python coconuts" and was galloping down the hallway with them.
I believe my Spanish teacher has a pair too. We are in the process of putting together an -ugh- puppet show of Man of La Mancha, and she wants to use the coconuts for the galloping sound.

Posted: 1/6/05 at 11:24pmI think it is going to be a hit at the Tonys, but I am unsure if it will win as many as the Producers.

I'm sure it will do very well at the Tonys, though Im not sure how they would break down the acting awards. In theory, all the featured actor in a musical nominees could come from this show, which would never happen, right? Tim Curry, David Hyde Pierce, Hank Azaria, Christian Borle, Michael McGrath, and Christopher Sieber are all wonderful in the show, which could create a dilemma in where the line is crossed between leading and featured... but Sara Ramirez better be nominated somewhere.
I'm just looking forward to the Tony performance:)

Posted: 1/7/05 at 1:52amIsn't there another principal, Steve Rosen in the show? I think I saw him in a show at NYU when I was looking there. He was so funny in the show that I saw; how is he in Spamalot. No one ever seems to mention him in their reviews. Can't wait to see it when I'm in NYC this Summer!

Posted: 1/7/05 at 11:09amIt doesn't matter if you like Monty Python or not. The show stands well on its own as a new piece that borrows from a classic. The Lady of the Lake and Camelot arrival scenes in the first act are worth the price of the ticket alone, but be sure to stick around for the second act, which is full of fun surprises not in the film.

Me, too. I am in Milwaukee and I have decided to make the short drive to Chicago to check it out. I have never really seen any Monty Python films, but I am eager to see this talented cast doing what they (obviously) love.

BarbBroadway - Steve Rosen is indeed a principal in Spamalot, though I thought his part was a little underwritten to stand out among the amazing group of pure talent on that stage. He does get a few funny moments, and is definitely worthy to be on that stage. He plays Sir Bedevere, Concorde, and Dennis's Mother.
I would say his big moment comes in the scene with the French Taunter. He and Sieber also work well as Dennis and his mother:)
I totally forgot him in my earlier post, and I shouldn't have!
