Ha, I've never much liked Michael Crawford (and I thought he was dreadful in Woman In White, but you know why!), but I looked him up to see whether he was born British or American, because he has a very unusual in-betweenish sort of accent in everything I've seen him in. And I discovered that his birth certificate name's Michael Dumbell-Smith-- which isn't even his real father's last name, apparently. Huh.
It sounds like one of those names from the Monty Python Upperclass Twit sketch. Gervais Brook-Hamster and Vivian Smith-Smythe-Smith and Nigel Incubator-Jones and the rest.
