He's great! I'm sad he's leaving, but happy he's found another show (Addams Family)
We got okay seats, Row H 106-107. Come by and say hi

Hey JerseyGirl,
That code isn't working on tm for me (tried it midweek, mid august). TM saying it's not in their system.

Honestly, for the first time in six years of visiting NYC together, we weren't disappointed with any of the shows we saw (we only flew in for a long weekend of 5 shows this time):
Fuerzabruta
Rock of Ages
Hair
West Side Story
Next to Normal
We agreed that Next to Normal was the best show we saw, but Rock of Ages was the most fun. Not to take anything away from anything else, we really enjoyed them all. We struggled with a couple of the choices, but were thrilled with the results.

RoA is fun, but not as much fun as HAIR! But then again, I'm crazy biased

Posted: 7/29/09 at 12:27pmRock of Ages is definitely a show anyone would love. It was TONS of fun and how can you not get chills with "Don't Stop Believin" blaring? hahah One thing about the drinks the seats...the servers weren't too distracting at all, however there was an incident when I saw it. Some dumb woman decided to get her own drinks and in the middle of the show came down the aisle with 3 or 4 drinks stacked on top of one another and as she was getting into the aisle completly spilled all of them!!! Not to mention she was about 3rd row center

Like I said, I'm not taking anything away from the other shows. We LOVED Hair (I rubbed asses with Hud on stage). LOVED IT! I guess I could say Hair was fun, but in a very different way. And Hair has its serious side as well. It's really difficult to say what we enjoyed more than another because we liked them all for different reasons. Rock of Ages was the most fun because it was constructed to be fun from start to finish. Hair was written to be more complex than that. Hair has fun moments, but I would be reluctant to describe the show itself as "fun". It's definitely much more than that.

Posted: 7/29/09 at 4:01pmThank you JG - the link says it's good from 8/31-10/1, so that explains why it wasn't working in mid August.

I had such a good time at Rock of Ages. In all honesty, I didn't even want to go, but I was with friends who wanted to. I hate jukebox musicals. I thought Constantine Maroulis was a total creeper (well, I still do, but he's really endearing in the show). It turned out to be so much fun. The fact that it was unexpected made it all the better.
There are more "normal" people that like the show than some are willing to give it credit for.

Hey Mister Matt, I was at the matinee last Saturday, too!
Stacee Jaxx shot that thong right at my head, lol. Such a memento.
This was the first trip to NYC since March. So, I decided to go to three performances.
I won lottery seats in the front, row AAA, on Friday night and it was awesome. Had we not won the lottery, we were going to go see N2N. Maybe next time.
The show changed since previews and for the better. I had great fun.
I'm planning to come back one more time to see the show. We're planning on doing other shows, too, but I sure do love ROA.
Call me what you will, but I think the show is very entertaining and a lot of fun.

I guess you should add me to the (seemingly long) dregs list, since I too enjoyed this show. And I know people in demographics ranging from teens to septuagenarians who liked it as well.
As far as the term "dregs" goes, I understand that it is being used ironically in this thread, but why allow oneself to be defined by another person's bad manners?
In any event, my Websters does not offer "dreg" as a singular noun, only as a plural. So I guess if one is going to label oneself with the term, one should say "I'm one those dregs who likes 'Rock of Ages.'"

Posted: 7/31/09 at 12:27amThe list of dregs is a long and distinguished one and the more people you meet in the community (actors, playwrights, directors) that enjoy this show the more you feel in good company. :) I think now that Tonys are a faded memory and the competition between newly opened shows has died down you see a lot less hatred for this show. It's obvious it didn't destroy Broadway and that there is in fact room for ALL kinds of entertainment (and audiences) on Broadway.
