Because she is technically a replacement. One can dream right? I just wanted to check and see.
Also any chance the producers are waiting to announce a cast album so they can put Lea on it? What are the chances?
No, she won't get a Tony nom. unless that replacement category winds up finding its way into the ceremony.
Also, with the number of Les Miz albums available, I am not sure that a revival album will be made.
Because she is technically a replacement.
She is a replacement. Besides, no one is going to get a Tony nomination for LES MIS anyway. The show will be completely shut out. They're really ALL just replacements in the same production that was on Broadway 3 years ago. Nothing new here.

From prior thread regarding revival cast recording:
"I don't think anyone who knows for sure is talking...
Anyone who knows for sure...
...has not released anything to the press.
Or said anything official for the general public.
So, if anyone knows, they're not talking."
I'm hoping THEY do know for sure.
p.s. And that they are now waiting until after March 6th to start talking about it.
I wouldn't say nobody. I think Aaron Lazar and Celia Keenan-Bolger have chances in the Featured categories.

And not the amazing Norm Lewis? I'm shocked!
Someone asked Beach at the stagedoor about what he thought on the subject of a new recording. He said that since they have new orchestrations sp? why not go for antoher one.

Similar to my statement made about Marky Mark a few moments ago in the Oscars thread, I shall throw myself under a train of Les Miz get's a nomination for anything. ACL will be mildly more forgiveable, but otherwise, this may be the year to explore death by train.
I was kind of hoping Natalie Cortez could be nominated for A Chorus Line.
husk_charmer, we'll hold hands and throw ourselves under that train together if LES MIS gets any Tony nominations.

I second Natalie.
And Celia and Aaron.

Aaron has a neck up on the competition.
And, I can't wait to see/hear Lea.
p.s. But most of all: Hail Celia!
I don't think the producition of Les Miz should get the revival nom but there are many actors in it that should get noms and some should prolly win.
when i first read the title of this thread, i thought you were talking about lea michele.. because she was offered the part of eponine and all.. and i was about to say, how could she be nominated when she wasn't even in this production. wow, silly me.
okay, off-topic finished.
It will be interesting if 110 In the Shade, Company, and The Apple Tree are the only ones to get nominations. I think this outcome is likely.
And, why can't Lea get a nomination? Wasn't Larry Kert nominated over Dean Jones in the original Company? What was the difference?
Daphnie has been with Les Mis for more than a couple of months now. Kert replaced Jones within weeks of opening night, and even then, a very special exception had to be made to get him on the ballot.
Lea who? Have I missed something?
Lea DeLaria!
Oh, him.

Now, Lea DeLaria would make a fabulous Fantine. It would be the manly persepctive of suffering from a woman who knows how to feel. I think it may just be a bit to subtle of a part for her though.
When I first read the title of this thread I though it meant Lea Michele and I was like, umm she decided not to do the show. But then I remembered that Lea Salonga was taking over Fantine

Yeah, I thought so too, Alliez.
I wish she gets a nod. But then Celia has competition.
I might go see Les Miz in March with Mary Poppins and Forbidden Broadway because Drowsy and Spamalot are on tour/Vegas.
After seeing this last week, I'm surprised at the lack of buzz around Alexander Gemignani -- he was the best Valjean I've seen (this was my fourth time) -- even the students I brought with me picked him out as their favorite actor - they couldn't believe it when I told them how old he really is!

that's what i just said. 4 posts before.
p.s., I agree!~
HAIL CELIA!
And, wow, I never even thought of the prospect that the producers knew about the negative buzz around Daphne and were just waiting for Lea to confirm her involvement, and THEN, with an acclaimed Tony-winner in the role of Fantine, get a cast recording made!
*clouds part and sun shines again*
Edit:
1) I know they knew about the negative buzz, don't worry, I don't live in a hole. I meant that I never thought about the fact that, with all the negative reviews and such, they'd sit on the recording until Lea comes in.
2) Acclaimed (and HIGHLY-favored over Daphne) Tony-winner! I loved Daphne's performance... but GOD I love me some Lea!
