tonight i attended a free band concert night (it's been going on for years) in a city near me, and got a wonderful surprise! having seen her on the Tony's only a month or so before, Carol Channing was sitting thrity feet away from me on a lawn chair. the audience had the privelage to see her do a comic monologue, and sing the song that made her name. the band struck up "Hello Dolly" and i got a taste of the Broadway star. she made a few humorous stops during the song, and the audience lit up. annoying speaking vioce, yes, but her young spirit shined through! just thought i'd share this bit with everyone--you're the people i know will care! lol!

Well, Unlimited Dreamer, you and I were at the same event tonight. Wasn't Carol still the entertainer. Singing and telling stories. What a delight!
It sounds like you all had a fun evening.
She's one of our treasures. One of the hardest working women in the theatre (next to Chita).
