Posted: 1/18/07 at 6:32pmShe's fantastic in the cast recordings of The Apple Tree and On A Clear Day You Can See Forever. Her "What Makes Me Love Him" is incredibly touching and the sequence she performed at the Tonys from The Apple Tree is absolutely hilarous!

I also miss her. I think she's utterly delightful in Nashville.
According to imdb.com, she's semi-retired, or was the last time I looked, but she teaches acting.
She developed vocal nodules during Apple Tree, and had give up performing in musicals, which is why she went to Hollywood.

She was amazing, Sorry I did not see her in on A Clear Day

Posted: 1/18/07 at 8:38pmI read somewhere (I believe it was on this board or imdb.com, can't remember) that she also retired because while she loved the rehearsal process of a musical/play in which you're constantly changing and bringing in new material, she became bored performing the same exact role in the same way singing the same songs 8 times a week.

Did she even do any movies after "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels"?
Last thing I remember hearing regarding her was that she was supposed to have been in the Bette Midler version of "Gypsy" (I think Andrea Martin got her part) and she was supposed to have been in the Chicago production of "Once Upon a Kiss", both back in the '90's.
Sheldon Harnick sites the song "I've Got What You Want" as the song in which she used to scream that led to her throat problems.
In my mind, I can imagine her as an incredible Sally in "Follies"...
And no other person need sing "What Did I Have" from "On A Clear Day..." because no one else can do what she did with it. Barbra included.

Sally in FOLLIES... inspired!
I heard that she was ...well... eccentric. Didn't she do something odd when she accepted her Tony?

Posted: 1/18/07 at 9:27pmShe got upset when someone awards ceremony crasher came onstage and gave her a kiss while she was accepting it.

She said something about hating that the creative process stopped on opening night, and that's why she didn't like performing.
Where does she teach acting?

Two titles:
FREAKY FRIDAY and THE NORTH AVENUE IRREGULARS
These movies made her seem like a comic goddess; funny, shapely, and slightly off-center, she steals every scene she gets near. I only wish I could have seen her live.

I first saw Barbara Harris in the movie "A Thousand Clowns" and fell in love with her. I was going to the Columbia Graduate School of Social Work at the time and loved her take on social workers. She was so funny and touching at the same time, which she was in all of her roles.
I was fortunate to have seen her in THE APPLE TREE and ON A CLEAR DAY YOU CAN SEE FOREVER. Her boredom at doing 8 shows a week never showed through. She always gave her all.
