"Carousel" was actually wonderful. Great cast."
Lots of people, including NYC producers who traveled to see the show, thought that there was nothing going for it in any commercial sense. While the cast was "good" they were not directed. The only performer who knew what she was doing was Jenn Gambetese, who played the role previously and must have remembered her past directions. Everyone else flailed, crossed the stage unnecessarily, and awkwardly navigated a clunky and hideous set that would look even more ridiculous in a broadway house. Nothing about this production made it good enough to move.
