I wonder if people are still trying to bring this in. Maybe after the Houston production, there will be interest in it again, and open in the spring? The Lyric will be open

There are a lot of shows in Chicago that get excellent reviews but never find their way to Broadway. It could still happen. It could not happen.
I wish steppenwolf would bring its production of the Herd to Broadway. One of the best plays I have seen there.

Doubtful. While it got good reviews, I know of many people who thought it did not at all live up to the reviews, myself included. My theory is that it was raved over as a way to encourage regional productions of a certain quality.

Good reviews in Chicago do not automatically mean a Broadway success, as the cast of Desire Under the Elms discovered. I left Carousel at intermission. A couple of good performances, but I hated the production. After the flawless rendition of Soliloquy on a particularly ugly set, I felt I'd seen enough.

I did not see it but my few friends who did did not care for it. Not sure it's their speed though...
And on the flip side, we also know that poor reviews do not necessarily prevent a show from moving to Chicago. (See Amazing Grace.)

Lots of people, including NYC producers who traveled to see the show, thought that there was nothing going for it in any commercial sense. While the cast was "good" they were not directed. The only performer who knew what she was doing was Jenn Gambetese, who played the role previously and must have remembered her past directions. Everyone else flailed, crossed the stage unnecessarily, and awkwardly navigated a clunky and hideous set that would look even more ridiculous in a broadway house. Nothing about this production made it good enough to move.
