A 10 out of 10 performance to say the least. I had the rare opportunity to see “Alan Turing and the Queen of the Night” on its final day of showing, after a month-long run. To my luck, I not only experienced the production but also got to speak with the cast and creators behind this original masterpiece.

Walking into “The Players Theatre,” I was immediately struck by its intimacy. The cozy setting created the perfect backdrop for a show I entered into with no expectations (I didn’t even remember the title until intermisson. From the opening moments, I was captivated..

The music was addictive, so much so that I often found myself moving in rhythm in my seat. Each original number carried an energy that made me think the show must have played across New York City or beyond, only to realize that this was the only place these songs had ever been performed. That sense of exclusivity added to the show’s magic.

As for the production itself, it struck a brilliant balance between humor and drama. One moment I was laughing out loud, the next I was drawn into the weight of the story. The actors and actresses gave outstanding performances, bringing historical figures to life with both nuance and power. Their blocking, facial expressions, and timing only elevated the experience. Just when I thought the show couldn’t get any better, it did.

The technical elements deserve mention as well. The lighting and sound effects added a layer of discovery and excitement, enhancing the emotional impact without overshadowing the story. Even the intermission felt perfectly placed, leaving me eager to return to my seat and see what unfolded next.

What impressed me most was how deeply the musical moved me. It entertained, yes, but it also challenged me to think and taught me something about Alan Turing’s story. That combination of laughter, learning, and reflection is rare in theater. If I could, I would see this production again and again, and I know I’d laugh and marvel with the same joy I felt the first time.

Alan Turing and the Queen of the Night is an extraordinary work of history, creativity, and self discovery. I feel incredibly lucky to have witnessed it during its limited run, and even luckier to know that its music and story will stay with me long after the curtain has closed.

Sorry to be out of the loop-- is this at the Player's Theatre Off-Broadway, or the one in London? Thanks.
