The show itself is so cinematic to begin with, that it should transfer well to film.
I was wondering if perhaps this film will be a sort of breakthrough for Eddie Murphy. He's got a real chance here to show a side most people haven't seen.

yes kringas ~ i was thinking the same thing if condon pulls a performance from murphy in this role it may just be the highlight of his long career... ~ in the right hands it can be an award winning role.
Also, a question about the Dreamgirls recording. I've been trying to figure out what Audra (atleast I think it was Audra maybe Heather) says during the part where Curtis tells them that they are going to have their own act.I've listed to it over and over and it sounds like "Zudd zukka" to me. Anybody know what I'm talking about?
funny enough i have been listening to dreamgirls all week since a friend hooked me up with a recording of Jennifer as effie. its sooo amazingly refreshing to hear her! the crowd goes nuts
truth - i think i know what you're talking about... if it's the scene 'i'm a woman now' about 1min 55sec in... she (Audra) stutters & then says 'did u say our own act?'
& some general notes on the recording. I think it's unfair to say that the guys were better than the girls without seeing them act the roles; I'm sure they were all great.
As far Lilias' version of AIATY, I could see how that could leave some of you wanting more; it did for me too at first! But the more i listened to it the more I liked it (and I've never heard Ms Holiday do it, so I don't have that for comparison). It's ok
Audra is my idol. Her vioce is a bit to classical for Dreamgirls in general, but I think that for the role of Deena it kinda works. She is after all supposed to be less soulful, and have more of a 'cross-over' appeal.
Over-all I love the recording, I've never seen a staged version, but I'm dieing to see one!
