Hey, Im wanting to write a contemporary musical, for a small cast of mabye 2-4 but i need a seed to write a story. any ideas?
A bunch of homeless people wear trash, prance around, scream at the top of their lungs, and try to tell a story, but fall flat on their faces.

4 people stuck in an elevator....one is blind and fearless, one is klaustrophobic, the other two are fighting couple, about to get a divorce....GO!
Ooooh, I like that one! I say GO too!

I have an idea that fits that description, but I refuse to share it! I've commissioned my sister, a playwright and songwriter, to write the book (at least), music and lyrics to this musical. It's actually a decent storyline, but I would hate to see someone else use my idea!

I know this requires a bigger cast, but I've always wanted to see a musical version of ARSENIC AND OLD LACE, perhaps with the new title, ELDERBERRY WINE.
I envision a Jerry Herman-like score and Carol Channing and Angela Lansbury as the two sisters, Eric McCormack as Mortimer and Alice Ripley as his love interest.
I can dream, can't I?

I really like that idea. I love Arsenic and Old Lace
Two of my ideas
A musical of The Nightmare Before Christmas, beautiful poems transform into beautiful music
Or, I started one about a hit band in the 1980s, sort along the same storyline as win a date with tad hamiltion
Nightmare Before Christmas is already a musical movie. Granted, it's animated, but it already exists. That might be cool to adapt to the stage, but only with $20 billion.
I also have an idea for a musical that I'm commisioning two friends to write. They've already written one song, but we don't have the rights to the property yet. I'm excited to see how it turns out!!
Ok, Awsome ideas! i just want to add that the theatre im going to be working in would be a small venue... really small, only 150 ppl. also, some of the actors i have interested in working with me are around 20 years old.
thnx again, and keep adding more suggestions!

How about a musical about a Broadway producer, a director/choreographer, and an author. They decide to produce a Broadway musical using the music of a well-known 80's band. It's a musical about nothing that takes place in California...sometime. Four small town grads set out to find true love, adventure, and ooooh, just maybe the biggest plastic wave of their wildest dreams. Anyway...the show is a FLOP and the character lose lots of money and credibility! They are ashamed to show their faces in town and learn a hard lesson...use ORIGINAL stories and ORIGINAL music. The names for your characters can be: Mr. Lesser, J. Giraffa, and Mr. Snott.
TOTALLY ORIGINAL stuff here!! :)

A musical about how movie stars behave off-screen.
Kind of like America's Sweethearts i suppose.
A Love square.
Better yet, Bob, Carol, Ted & Alice: The Musical!
