So I just got home from her concert tonight at the Barrington Stage, Orch. Row F seats which were awesome. And pretty much she was simply amazing. I actually am not that fond of her CD, but I wanted to see her anyway and I'm really glad I went because hearing her sing the songs live made them so much better.
She came out(wearing a really ugly outfit but thats okay) and sang three songs then chatted with audience for awhile. It was a really interactive show, she told a lot of stories about her days as a wedding singer. She was actually really funny, I was laughing every other minute because she kept making jokes. The audience literally was hanging on her every word. She told us about how she never had a Bat Mitzvah because she dropped out of Hebrew school, so lucky us we got to hear her sing the prayer she would have sung at her Bat Mitzvah. It was gorgeous.
She sang a little bit from RENT, but kind of put her own spin on it. Her encore was Defying Gravity. Absolutely phenominal. Her voice was beautiful and she was so endearing and funny. I always pictured her to be really serious, but she was so friendly. Someone called out that it was their birthday and she let her come up on stage to take a picture with them. Two people gave her flowers, she really connected with the audience. Which actually got obnoxious toward the end because the audience wouldn't stop like.. yelling things at her. Nice things but I just wanted her to keep singing. Overall it was a great show and if anyone has a chance to see her I would definitely do it because its a completely different side of her and she is totally worth the $35
Theres probably some more details I'm missing that made her show so good, but I'm tired and will post as I can remember them
