i hadn't seen CAMP in a long time and it was on TV the other day... so my friend and I watched it... this movie is so awful that I had to keep watching it... the acting is bad... but damnit... I like it... favorite thing... when Vlad auditions they are all in love with him and the adminstrators loved him but then they go and cast him in a straight play... i found that really funny... oh well... and as my friends say... Michael (Vlad's roommate, right?) looks better as a female than as a male....
and on another side note... my friend loves CAMP and Vlad is one of her friends on myspace (or someone pretending to be vlad whatever... myspace is weird) and i guess Vlad posted a comment on her page but posted the same thing on every other girl's page, and when i told my friend that... she got all hurt like she wanted Vlad to be her friend... haha... funny

Posted: 11/4/05 at 10:33amI watched this movie when it first came out on video and thought it was ridiculous. I watched it because I knew a few people in it and was supporting them. THEN I took a job working at a performing arts camp and yes...this is EXACTLY what it's like. Kids confused about their sexual preferences, parents who just wanna get rid of their kids for the summer because they're not normal, kids who only look forward to the summer because they feel estranged from the real world, kids who have no clue who the Beatles are but know every Sondheim lyric ever written, totally inappropriate casting(9 year olds doing A Chorus Line?), viciousness and backstabbing....The movie was right on. Too bad the acting sucked...but then again, wasn't that the point? Most of the kids who go to these camps can't act their way out of a paper bag, but usually can either sing or dance.

Anyone remeber the film "SING" with Lorranie Broco?
I loved that one. I wore out the tape (Back in the days before CD's).
CAMP was fun to watch the kids singing (as I like to call them)'songs for bitter adults'.

"Turkey Lurkey Time" is fantastic. I can watch that one number over and over again. I love the way it builds. It's a great combination of talented performers, amazing music and top-notch choreography.
As for the movie, it stumbles all over itself as far as believability, dialogue and acting. But there are enough stand-out good moments to keep propelling it forward to the end. It succeeds mostly on sheer appeal alone.
And just to watch "And I'm Tellin' You" from Dreamgirls with their crazy casting is worth the price of the DVD alone!
