Probably.
Why would she have produced CAROLINE? She has a connection with COLOR PURPLE.
It's a theory Rath, not an opportunity for you to belittle another poster.
I'm not belittling anyone. I'm asking a question. Why CAROLINE? Why not another good show that didn't last for whatever reason?
She had a prior association with COLOR PURPLE and that's why she got involved.
Namo was right.
I know you think that's funny.
I wasn't joking, Rath.
It's funny because it's true.
Bye.
I think it would.
You know it...and rightfully so.

If Oprah produced "Suzanne Somers reads the phonebook, in the style of Harvey Fierstein", it would run for twenty years.
Good lord! The show's been gone for 2 years! Move on or join the other losers who think that WICKED should have won best musical.
No because it wasn't a very good show.
The Color Purple is a lot better, despite its flaws.
Because Caroline has more than five black people! Duh!
It's a valid discussion.
And Caroline is not in any way shape or form a bad musical. You may not have liked it or you might not have been able to appreciate it, but it was not a bad musical.

How did Wicked become involved in this thead? And uhm...Kevinoes-- while I get over Caroline, work on being less of an asshole.
But, why should we get over Caroline? A great musical closes early because audiences are not sophisticated enough to crave that kind of art. Certainly not with dancing animals and household items and shows with ABBA music around.
oooohh, snap!!
jrb I'm pretty sure Caroline had dancing household items.

No, I don't think it would be.
It was a tough sell in general. THE COLOR PURPLE is doing well not JUST because of Oprah, but because of the built in audience from the book and movie together with Oprah and all her fame and glory.
And also, it closed 2 years ago. Get over it!!!

HA HA! Sum, you are correct! ha ha. And, I don't mean to say that fun shows can't be thrilling or valid. It's just sad there isn't more balance. COC was as astonishing evening of theatre for me.
What is this "Get over it" business? What a tacky, hypocritical thing to say.
