If Someone Hated Curtains, Are They Likely to Hate Drowsy as Well?

I took my other half to see Curtains this weekend and he absolutely hated it (I thought it was pretty good, but could use some tightening). He did not appreciate the silliness of it and did not laugh once the whole night. I recall him also hating Modern Millie as well, so I'm beginning to think he just does not like this type of old-fashioned musical comedy. That being said, is he likely to hate Drowsy as well. We have tickets for Novmeber and now I'm thinking I should just try and sell them. From what I know of the show, it too is quite silly and old-fashioned and is pretty much all fluff with very little substance. For those who know the show, do you think I should take my chances with Drowsy, or dump the tickets and take him to something a little less low-brow? Thanks.

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."

If you're more likely to enjoy it, and you're worried that he won't, why can't you just go without him?

Posted: 8/14/06 at 3:01pmI don't think there's really any comparison between "Curtains" and "Drowsy"... Yes, there both "silly musicals", but "Curtains" is a traditional backstage "book musical" with a plot that possibly just didn't appeal to him. "Drowsy", on the other hand, is one of the most innovative, fresh pieces of theatre I have seen in a long while and, technically, it's set in TODAY and is NOT an old-fashioned musical comedy... Man in Chair is a layered character who guides the audience through his imagination of a 20's musical comedy. I say take the risk and chances are you'll both love it.

I am not a fan of DROWSEY... I have the CD, seen clips, ect... It's just not for me... However what I have seen and heard and read about CURTAINS excites me
They are two different shows with differnt casts. Chances are they will appweal to different people.

Posted: 8/14/06 at 8:14pmI didn't care for Drowsy. Everyone around me was laughing all through the silliness. I am looking forward to Curtains, though.

Posted: 8/16/06 at 3:29amCurtains has a wonderful ingratiating performance by David Hyde Pierce but not much else. Drowsy is a much much better show, all around.
