Just for the irony of it I'd choose Lanford Wilson's BURN THIS.

This is an impossible question, but I do agree for the sake of Western Civ I would pick something from Shakespeare---how about Julius Caesar---still relevant as it was in the 1590's.

I would Pick RENT bc it has such a strong message and It's a show I feel everyone should see
It is kind of in the process of being burned with the closing coming in a couple of months (I don't want it to close)

I agree with the Shakespeare. I'm going to say 'Twelfth Night'.

It would either be Romeo & Juliet or You Can't Take It With You. I'll get back to you.
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

Hey liverpool lay off Coolkid. He likes RENT and if you want to get into a discussion about what constitues GOOD theater well that's one thing but there is nothing productive or worthwhile about just shooting down someone's opinion for no apparent reason.

I need to read it, but The Little Dog Laughed, just because it makes me happy.
Or the obvious answer, Hamlet.

With Clay Aiken in Spamalot, all of Broadway is singing a collective "There! Right! There!" -Me-

i like the show, BUT IT'S TIME FOR IT TO GO.
it's become a shell of it's former self. an empty husk. What rent is today is almost a joke.

Not that I've read many plays (but working on it!), but I'd say something Shakespeare because, as ahmelie said, there's a reason his work is still studied today. Of the Shakespeare I've read, I'd say Julius Caesar.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

Liverpool dont get me wrong, every time I see Rent I need to be held back from jumping up on stage and kicking some butt to some of those undeserving actors up there. But to say its a shell of its former self? Not by a longshot. It is maybe two mediocre actors in the show at any given time. So I think you are exaggerating.
