I know that all the world is Buzz buzz buzz for 'Legally Blonde' right now. But there are other shows premiering. Anyone seen ‘In the Heights’ yet? it’s off-Broadway and supposedly from the creators of Rent and Avenue Q. I think it seems interesting but we all have our apprehensions. Any good news…..

Going to a musical late in its run is like going to a prostitute late in her shift.

the reviews came out today and were mostly all positive, with a few mixed and one negative thrown in.. Variety, NY Times , and the NY Post all gave it a positive review!

I loved this little show!

It's not by the creators of RENT and AVENUE Q, its from the producers of RENT and AVENUE Q.

I saw this show today for the 2:00 performance ...I'll give a review on here I guess.. I promise I won't make it too long re: In the Heights

Ok first of all I have to say I went in not knowing what to expect...the two other people I was with did not know if they were like it, but I tried to stay positive and be like I think it will be really good.

When I walked in and sat down to see the set, I thought the set looked fantastic..so that was my first good sign.

So then the show started, the reason I actually went is because I know someone in the cast so I really wanted to see it because of them.

First off I'll start by saying this whole cast has such amazing talent and they can definetly go far in their careers as long as they are seen enough. This show is a must-see...it can and has a good chance to go far.

The cast:

Lin-Manuel Miranda: AMAZING singing and acting skills...he was great, had some comedy thrown in, played an all-around great part as Usnavi to the show

Mandy Gonzalez: What a voice she has oh my gosh...from her first part of singing to her last, her voice was so strong and on target with the beat...it was really good.

Note: today Karen Olivo who usually plays the role of Vanessa was out (she was still there though, it was just that her voice or something like that was not feeling well, but I still saw her standing at the back of the theatre cheering them all on)

Her understudy, Asmeret Ghebremichael was on: from not even seeing Karen, I thought she was amazing and could play the part perfectly fine. Her voice was very good and she delivered a strong performance too on the acting part and her dancing too.

Robin De Jesus: So so so Funny ! I loved his little comedic lines thrown in...in some of the reviews they say that he lightened up scenes a bit...so true ! and in one of the songs, 96,000 is the name of it, he has a few solo lines in where he is I guess you can say rapping...he did it so well

Andrea Burns- loveddd her ! really good..good actress

Olga Merediz- She played Abuela...did such a good job at it, I wanted to add something but I am trying to avoid spoilers in this so I will just say she did good

Christopher Jackson: was very good...he is good looking too re: In the Heights

I hope I am not forgetting anyone else important...those are just the names I have off the top of my head...but I remember that everyone else was really good.

The only complaint that I had was some of the slow songs in the show got to be a little on the draggy side if you know what I mean but they were good songs just some parts of them.

The songs overall were really good and most very upbeat...the dancing was really good and well choreagraphed (sp?)

The Best Songs of the show were: Fireworks, It Won't Be Long Now, In the Heights, 96,000

Great show..I really liked it..although not my favorite one ever..I would say its a really great musical and its good to see at least once..I'm actually hoping to go again.

Anyways, hope you enjoy the review !!

Come on babe we're gonna paint the town...and all that jazz...
