Hey everyone, how hard is it to win the lotto?
Chances? One out of however many people show up.
Thanks..I love probability! Do many show up..should have been my question!
It's day-to-day, I've gone Fridays and Saturdays and won each time though
Stuff like this on this Board drives me crazy.
Look--it's completely impossible for someone sitting at their computer desk to know what your chances in the lotto are. It's a lottery for hell's sake. How would we know what your chances are?
I've tried the lotto twice. The first time (Wednesday evening) there were about 50 people there and we both won. The second time (Sunday matinee) I'd say about 30, maybe less, and only he won. So really, it all comes down to how good your karma is.
I think the shows amazing but I also think it's better from mezzanine. Spring for the ticket if you can.
Chances? One out of however many people show up.
lolol- love it.
I've done the Heights lotto...um, a lot...and I lost it seven times before my name was finally pulled on the eighth time I entered. But, I have friends who have much better lotto luck than I (knock wood)- who can predict these things?
dancingthrulife - not sure if you were kidding, but you're actually very wrong. Your chances are winning are 22(or however many names they draw) out of however many people show up. It would only be 1 if they only drew 1 name. Yikes.
It was a joke. Lighten. Up.
I laughed in the library when I read it dtl-
and btw Brian, considering your name can't be called more than once, it is actually a chance of 1/how many people show up. If you put in your name 22 times you'd would most probably be busted- or the people in the lotto would be high.
Sorry, I should have clarified.
I was with a friend. He won and I won.
Glad some people thought it was funny.
And yes, if you put your name in 22 times, your chances would be absolutely zero because they would disqualify you.
To get back on topic, though: The one time Iw ent it was very crowded for a Wednesday mat and I lost.
DTL-it was funny, i was just trying to be accurate.
shh - You're wrong. If 100 people show up, and they draw 10 names, you have a 1/10 chance of winning, or 10%. Do I need to rip out a text book?
All right, then.
Note to self- check math on probability jokes in the future.
Your chances of winning are actually greater than that due to the probability of people turning down tickets because their partner already won.
But, rather than get into the combinatorics of it, I'll just stick with "it depends on how many people show up."
:)
If you are planning on trying the lottery chad2, I hope you win! Good luck!
for real, no matter what the chances, it's worth a shot. The show is great.
I've heard it hasn't been more than like 45-50 on average, I went on a Thursday and there were maybe 40 and I got in. I heard it's been a little worst on weekends but still not bad.
