I seem to recall Hawn and Keaton imploring Streisand at an Oscar cast to direct them in a movie.
THAT hasn't happened, either. I guess Streisand REFUSES to work with them...or vice versa.

I think I wrote:
Choice movie roles for women in their late forties and early fifties..don't grow on trees..
What would those two play together and in what film?
Love Barb, y'all know dat, but we all know she's "semi-retired" and even when she was not it took FOREVER for her to make an appointment never mind a film..
Perfection is in the details, remember..
what she never got is that Imperfections LEAD to perfection!

Nor do they beat down the doors of Broadway actresses with contract- in- hand. It's a very limited business for a woman over 40. Of course there's always Mrs. Perdue (Music Man) or Mother Superior (Sound)or Golda ( Fiddler) OYE!
Braodway men seem to have a longer life span onstage, but not by much. That's why so many actors are concerting, workshopping, teaching and trying their hand at directing waiting for that role to open up.
Good reason to take a second major you college young-uns!

What would Hawn and Keaton play together?
Roles created for them by a talented writer, perhaps????
The comments came at a time when Streisand was VERY much active as a director. And her semi-retirement was for her singing, yes?
I can well imagine a wonderful screenplay being done based on "Absolutely Fabulous" and wouldn't two forty-looking-something-dames (in their 50s) be just perfect for that?
An updated "Arsenic and Old Lace" with the aunts being older sisters could also work very nicely.
I rather suspect Hawn and Keaton could have made several films together by now....but egos and control are always non-conducive to seeing projects come to fruition. In "First Wives Club," it was Midler who came off best -- just as she's done in every project she has been in (possibly with the exception of "Stella Dallas" -- the dream project that lost all objectivity).
Hawn ought to work more, but she's revelling in her daughter's success and she's keeping tight reins on her significant other.

I disagree.
I think they ALL came off well..otherwise it would have been a "Bette Midler" movie..
That was the whole point...Three pros going full force and having a great time...
Also, they could have replaced Hawn and Keaton for 'The Second Wives Club" (..and i do belive there is a script out there)....although I don't think they could have per their contracts....
They could always bring back Stockard Channing as the Ghost of Cynthia! Now that would be interesting!
