Is Chicago too clique-y?

What do you think? Some people say that our community is incestuous and the same people get cast over and over, and some people say it's because those same people are GOOD and deserve to be cast and the grumbles come from the dissatisfied who are never cast. Opinions?

Aren't ALL theatre communities, large or small, like that?

There's always room for pathos - and jazz hands.

Clique-y in casting is one thing, because people tend to cast people that they know and trust to do the job. When you look at bio's from Broadway shows and tours, people tend to have done multiple shows cast by the same agency.

I do think Chicago actors can be kind of clique-y as people, though. I know you'll find that everywhere, but for some reason it's more noticeable to me here.
