Robbie..great quote!!
That's what it felt like!!
It reminded me of what it may have felt like in 1964 when a little show called FUNNY GIRL opened and some poor woman dragged the show kicking and screaming, on her back...

Posted: 10/8/03 at 5:17pmI saw Eartha Kitt several weeks after she took over the role in the London FOLLIES and she was magnificent. She was also terrific in TIMBUKTU and in an out-of-town try-out called PEG, which was a musical version of PEG O'MY HEART. I've never seen her give a bad performance, but she's been vicious when I met her in person.

The Wild Party was brilliant. I adored it.
I must say, though, "Eartha" is the strangest name ever.

It must be just you DP ![]()
I met her once and she was as sweet as could be. Of course this was after a sold out concert at a local jazz club that she was doing for a charity that I was involved with organizing. She had gotten a standing ovation and a club full of fans screaming for oncores. So she was in a great mood

Eartha Kitt has always been a melodramatic, self-dramatizing, glorious nutcase. Always. From Day One. Talented, but odd.
But she was the only rank-and-file star to show up for an Equity general meeting just because she was a union member and wanted to stay on top of what was going on. She was doing Timbuctu at the time. She sat in the back corner with no make-up and her hair under a scarf looking quite un-kittenish and would have been unnoticed if someone had not said "Eartha!" and who else would they have been referring to, Eartha Goldstein?
Repeat, few working actors on Broadway show up for the general meetings at all, but Eartha, 100% above the title, was there.

GREAT STORY!
I laughed out loud!
I mean the woman was close friends with James Dean...taht was her "soul mate"
When the wackiest man in show biz is your "soul mate"...ya got damage!!

Posted: 10/10/03 at 12:03amI have to say, while the choreography is simplified, I like it much better. I hated that tango. Eartha is cute in what she does, which is actually better than what Chita did, in my opinion.

"Reviews I've read of last night's 'Nine' are saying they simplified Chita's choreography to accomodate Miss Kitt."
You know, I figured they were going to do that. At least the part where Chita would kick and her foot would land on Antonio's shoulder during "Folies Bergeres" (the tango part).
