Hey, in Australia the movie still hasn't come out. I really enjoyed the Broadway show and was wondering if the movie is worth seeing. Thanks for your help!!

Yes. It serves the show justice and the cast is phenomenal! If you loved the show, you'll love the movie!

A little known fact is that in the original screenplay, Pan's Labyrinth was Pan's FLAByrinth. Hmmmmmmm...glad they changed it.

(Read any other thread on this board with the word HAIRSPRAY in it. You'll get your answer... which is obviously YES!)

It's definintly worth seeing. It's very well done, but don't go in expecting to love it like the broadway show. I think you'll be disappointed.

It's worth it to stare at Zac Efron for a while.

I say go see it. John Travolta's take on Edna is A LOT different then any other Edna, and sometimes seem a bit out of place, but there are some amazing preformances in this movie. Oh, and it's just a ton of fun to watch.

My favourite film of the year so far. It'll have you smiling the whole way through.

Don't be mad, but I thought the film was all wrong. They totally missed the camp element. There's a reason a man plays a woman, and a black womansings about being blonde, and I don't think the production staff understands the dramatic theory behind these things. Everyone was acting in a different style, and Allison Janney was the only one who got it right. I blame the director. They should have waited for Jack and Jerry.

I haven't seen the musical but thought the film was terrific. Apart from everything else, I thought they captured the atmosphere of 1962 very well.

I'm now looking forward to the London stage production, to do the comparisons.

100% absolutely!!

it's fantastic! Pretty much wonderful performances all around, imo, and I actually MUCH prefer the movie soundtrack to the OBCR! (I think that's because I like Nikki Blonsky's voice a WHOLE lot better than Marissa Jaret Winokur's- no offense to Marissa. But really I'm partial to almost ALL the voices on the movie soundtrack over the OBCR). It just has a ton of heart. Definitely the most fun I've ever had in a movie theater :)

one thing that IS definitely true though: whereas in the stage production, everything is totally camped up, the performances in the movie are all played very straight. I personally liked that element a lot, but if you're someone who really preferes shows like this to be mega campy, you'll probably be a little bit disappointed and think they took the whole thing too seriously.

I don't need a life that's normal. That's way too far away. But something next to normal would be okay. Something next to normal is what I'd like to try. Close enough to normal to get by.
