Is Jacques Brel likely to be recorded?

Does anyone have information about a potential recording of the off-Broadway revival of Brel?

After seeing the BWay Beat clip of Cuccioli singing Amsterdam, I feel its something that must be put onto CD.

I know that if you go to the website, which I just did the radio spot is up and Robert Cuccioli singing "Amsterdam" and "Carousel" , it sounds great! It seems as though they already recorded it, if it is on the website. I hope they do.

Well if it isn't recorded, you could always check out Ute Lemper's CD, ....But One Day, as it has an absolutely killer version of Amsterdam on it. It's not the same, but it wouldn't be a bad substitute.
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

My guess is that with this being a very limited engagement with even more limited interest the answer would be no

When we saw Under The Bridge Kathi lee Gifford had a CD made so maybe they may just be selling it in the theater

My wife had a funny idea.Take a camera & take a picture of her & Cuccioli & fake out our friends & use that as a christmas card

There are already a couple of recordings of the show, and I would imagine there would be very little interest in a new one.

This show is VERY of its time - I do love the music but honestly, there is no reason to bring this thing back. I'm sure it will come and go pretty quickly.

I agree with Michael Bennett - this show reeks of "1960's West Village Coffeehouse." No real concept - just a bunch of songs.

The show isn't a limited engagement actually it is, at least on playbill billed as an open run. So who knows. Don't knock things out until you've seen it. Also I got a chance to go to the press preview of the show and there was nothing 60's about the music at all. So I would wait to pass judgment on something you haven't even seen yet.

Well the only people who are going to go see it are the people who remember the album from the 60s, so that's at least one thing 60s about the music.

I don't know. I had the same attitude before I saw their press preview and it was very good. Everyone who atended thought the same thing and we all were surprised that it didn't come off as dated, to be honest I didn't know of the show until shortly before I attended the preview. And I am not in my 60's. I just don't get why people on this board tend to bash things before they even see it. I am not trying to change your viewpoint on the show either for all I know the rest could be extremely dated but I am going to reserve my opinions until I see it as opposed to imposing my thoughts on something sight unseen. But everyone is entitled to their opnions.
