I am so exited about la cage aux folies coming to broadway. Do you think its worth it?

For anyone who lives in CT, the Downtown Cabaret Theater in Bridgeport, CT did a production of La Cage Aux Folles sometime earlier this year (or it could have been at the end of last year...I forget).

I don't see any problem with a 13-year-old seeing LA CAGE. I think it would be totally appropriate.

I'm fourteen, and I'm begging my mother to let me see the show. *happy sigh* I can't wait. I've already fallen in love with the songs. *points lazily to avatar*

If they just reheat the 1984 show, then save your money. The book was very unfunny and the tone of the show will seem insulting to 2004 audiences who have a steady diet of WILL & GRACE and QUEER EYE. I hope Gary Beach and Daniel Davis are not forced to play the leads as sexless as George Hearn and Gene Barry were 20 years ago. Gavin Creel's role is small, poorly written and he has one weak song. The revival does have a good cast and if Harvey tightens the book, put in some good jokes and finally makes the big dinner scene funny, it could be worth seeing.

In the center orchestra, somewhere between the 5th-8th rows. Sitting too close (front row) isn't always all that it's cracked up to be.

I don't really know, but I'd suggest the wait-and-see tactic, because unless the show is an absolute smash it will have discounts in the winter.

Believe me - it will be worth it just to see the performance by Ruth Williamson..she's one of the funniest women on Broadway, and has a great singing voice.
"I don't really get the ending,all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang,and later she kissed him on the toilet,after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung,and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen,and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady?Please help me,thank u very much!"

I saw a very good production of the show starring Lee Roy Reams years ago. I was not impressed. I didn't care for the score and the book was ok, but not great. Freshen up the book and staging, I might enjoy it, but I'm not a Jerry Herman fan at all.

Mister_Matt - I believe Harvey Fierstein is doctoring up the book to appeal to today's crowd a bit, at least there was talk in that general direction a while back...
