Tom Kitt just scored an Emmy nomination, shared with Lin-Manuel Miranda, for writing the '13 Tony Awards' opening number. If he wins, he'll be one letter closer to PEGOT. That accomplishment has been reached by only Marvin Hamlisch. Sondheim and Robert Lopez are each one letter away. In addition to winning the Pulitzer and Tony, Kitt orchestrated/arranged the Grammy-winning American Idiot cast album (which doesn't quite count). And no Oscar yet (perhaps the in-development Sweet Valley High or Next to Normal adaptations will take care of that).
Anyway, here's my new interview with the composer:

Well, Mr. Kitt is still quite young so he has some time to achieve this. I wouldn't be surprised if he eventually did, though.
I believe Richard Rodgers also achieved PEGOT status. It's still a very exclusive club, though!
