Whoopi and Oprah never mixed well - as I have heard. Oprah is a little more political correct and Whoopi isn't if you know what I mean.

Well, according to Oprah, there never was a feud to begin with.
Oprah was on Letterman in 1989, and said she felt uncomfortable there, like she was butt of his jokes. Then, Dave made a joke the year he hosted the Oscars (the infamous Oprah, Uma, Uma Oprah), and it was believed the two disliked each other.
Dave made a joke of it, and for a good year would call Oprah's offices on the telephone on the air every night. She invited him to be on her show, but he declined. He started talking about her again this year, when she sort of became his neighbor. She finally agreed to be on the show again this year.
Their interview last night went reall well, I thought. It was much more serious than I think Oprah expected. The spoke mostly of her charity work in Africa, and only briefly spoke of Color Purple. Dave was full of admiration for her.
I think the "feud" is over.

So Letterman thought it'd be funny to introduce Uma to Oprah - because Uma was laughing with a wide horse-face...and it didn't go over well.

Despite what the Oprah PR camp has been saying it seems her real tiff with Letterman started when she was being sued by the beef industry. He made his usual running jokes and comments during the civil trial that she was going to do jail time, just like he had done with Martha Stewart. I don't think they share a similar sense of humor.
Whoopie's comments spoke volumes.

Posted: 12/3/05 at 2:51pmDo you know how taxing the role of Celie is? I'm sure once Whoopi finished playing the role, she just didn't want to go back to it. It has to be a psychologically stressful part to play, on film and on stage.

I kind of agree with Zoneace.
I directed Les Mis (school ed.) in high school, and therefore saw it every night for weeks. When I ushered for six performances of the touring company in college, I had no desire to sit through a single performance - I'd been there and done that.
