Is this the Maltby directed project? Are they doing a workshop somewhere?

Yes. They are doing a very short run at CAP21. It's starring Maxx Von Essen, Rodney Hicks, Chad Kimball, Anika Larsen, Kevin Hale and more. It's almost completely sold out, tickets can be bought via theatrermania.com

Yeah I think it is a workshop or developmental production at least that's what playbill called it. I am looking forward to it. Wow if it's any good it would seem cool to have two new "jukebox" musicals being done by reknowned veteran directors who know and get the genre. i.e. Des Mcanuff (Tommy)- although not quite jukebox but you know what I mean. and Richard Maltby (Ain't Misbehavin, Fosse and the list goes on) So I for one am very excited to see what this show is about.

I'm going on November 16th. I've known about this show for years and I've been waiting equally as long. I'm so excited.
